What is a 'digipak'?

A digipak is a style of packaging for CDs or DVDs which are usually made up of card board with a plastic holder for one or multiple disks.

They usually come with different panels which might be used for a cover, decoration, list of songs and the actual disk itself.

Digipaks are targeted towards an audience of more hardcore fans who prefer holding the physical copy in their hands. They use the product for their own gratification and pleasure because physical copies allow them to show off and feel like the owner of the product, whereas digital copies might feel more distant from its audience.

Digipaks must therefore be well designed so that it meets the need of its audience, because otherwise they might not get the same enjoyment out of owning the product.

They may also be targeted towards those who don't use or don't have access to the internet, so the option of downloading the music isn't there, and they only have the option of physical disks for their music.
